Who needs a Schengen visa?
Visa requirements are determined by your passport nationality, not your country of residence. Search the lists below to find your nationality.
ETIAS is not live yet
ETIAS — the €20 travel authorisation for visa-exempt nationals (UK, US, Canada and others) — has not started. The European Commission withdrew its 2026 target and has not confirmed a new date; 2027 is the current expectation. No website can issue an ETIAS today, so treat any site offering one as fraudulent. Schengen visa holders never need ETIAS.
Your visa requirement is based on the passport you travel on. Living in the UK on an Indian passport still means you need a Schengen visa; an American visiting from Mumbai does not.
